Diving regulators are a part of scuba sets and help the divers in breathing by providing them breathing gas from 1 or more cylinders at ambient pressure. The gas in the cylinders is either the specially blended breathing gas or air. The regulator has different valves on it that lets the gas come out of the cylinder for the diver in a controlled manner. It lowers the pressure of air on each stage.

These regulators are one of the most expensive and important prices for diving as it makes the diver have enough supply of air under water, so that he can survive. These regulators are equipped with two stages for reduction of the high pressure in the tank to the ambient one. Apart from the mouthpiece, a lot of regulators also include extra mouthpiece known as octopus, buoyancy compensator inflation hoses, pressure gauge for the diver.

The initial stage of regulator can be fixed on the top of scuba tank using the screw mechanism or knob called yoke. The presence of two chambers decreases the breathing gas pressure for the convenience of diver.

The changes in the pressure can be compensated by the diaphragm or the piston. There are several ports on the first stage and the second stage has the pressure gauge, inflator hose and the octopus. The second stage of the regulator reduces the pressure of breathing gases further. The gases are delivered to the diver by the mouthpiece. The exhaust valve in the mouthpiece helps the diver to exhale the air and the water can be forced out by the purge button.
